The home pictured in this print is a place very close to my own heart. It was the home of my Mother's parents Fred and Sally Bett Brandon. My cousins, all 11 of them, and I have had some really good times there.
As a small child, I loved to go fishing in this pond. My grandma was afraid I would fall into the pond. Her solution to that particular problem was to tie a rope around my waist and then tie the other end to a near by tree. Seemed to be fail proof. I never got wet but did catch a lot of Brim and Bass for dinner. I caught them so I had to clean and ready them for cooking. We sure did enjoy those fish.
I am so glad I did this piece for several reasons including the Christmas parties, easter egg hunts, barbeques, Fourth of July celebrations and many other times we all enjoyed growing up and visiting Maw Maw and Pa Pa. My grand father passed away in 1976 at the age of 76; but, my grandma lived on to the age of 99.
Maw Maw did love her Ford pickup truck that she drove right on up into her ninety's. Besides that in the early ninety's she was still mowing all of her yard around the house, barns and pond on her lawn tractor. I sure hope I can do those things when I'm that age.
This medium size print frames up beautifully to give a bit of country peacefulness to anyone's walls.
